Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympic athlete in U.S. history. With 23 gold medals, and having appeared in five consecutive summer games, this swimming superstar truly captured the attention, affection, and admiration of the world.

It was during the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro, however, that we first met his precious little boy, Boomer, as he sat in the audience with his mom, Nicole Johnson, and watched his dad make Olympic history.

With his gigantic noise-canceling earphones and adorable patriotic outfits, we instantly fell in love with this precious bundle of joy.

Now 17 months old, Boomer has officially ranked up to the role of big brother! On February 12th the family of three welcomed Beckett Richard into the world and everyone is thrilled about the new addition!

In his Instagram post announcing his son’s birth, Phelps reports that both mom and baby are healthy and he declares himself to be "the happiest man in the world."

When the euphoria of the first days of Beckett's life give way to the same struggles and challenges of every other new parent, we are certain that the furthest thing from the new parents' minds will be the future of the Phelps swimming dynasty.

But who could blame them for wanting to explore just how far those famous "Phelps genes" might be able to take the next generation?

Only time will tell, of course, but you never know. Boomer and Beckett just might go on to add more gold to the Phelps family medal count. Either way, we look forward to watching these two precious little boys grow up, both in and out of the pool. And I have to confess that we are keeping our eyes peeled for the “Phelps” name in the in the 2032 Olympic Games!
