One of Hollywood’s most adored couple’s is now more than a year-and-a-half into one of the messiest divorces ever seen; Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are now weeks into a custody court filing and signs of resolution are few and far between.
Brad and Angelina officially separated in the Fall of 2016-leaving fans utterly confused. Angelina called it quits on their 12-year relationship and two-year marriage when she accused Brad of domestic abuse towards her oldest son, Maddox, then just 15-years-old. However, later the domestic allegations towards Brad were dismissed.
Nevertheless, the couple has remained separated. Brad admitted to a drinking problem and has since received therapy and treatment for alcoholism. But in the midst of his own recovery, Angelina has received his absence has a “not compliant to their agreement” with the children.
On August 7th, 2018, Angelina Jolie’s attorney, Samantha Bley, revealed that “Brad has yet to pay child support.” The couple has six children: Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and 10-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox. The most recent court filing has revealed that Brad has “paid no meaningful child support since separation.”
The filing was never to focus on child support arrangements- or lack thereof- but rather to dissolve the marriage entirely. However, in the midst of working to dissolve the marriage, it was necessary to reveal financial disclosure and child support. Angelina’s lawyer revealed that Pitt has “not paid child support in more than a year-and-a-half.”
While working to dissolve the marriage and create custody details, the children have been found in a very difficult place. All children are currently in London with Angelina while she films her movie and Brad is alone in Los Angeles working on himself and his own projects.
Samantha has also revealed that Angelina wishes to bridge the gap with her family: “tried to bridge the gap between the kids and their dad. She’s worked to achieve reinstatement for them. But it’s now between Brad, his kids, and the court. The court will determine things.”
Divorce, separation, and family drama is so difficult, especially for children. Please pray for these six children as they work to navigate this troublesome seasons.
