The Duke and Duchess welcomed their third child early today and surprised many by leaving the hospital only a few hours after the birth. As they did with Prince George in 2013 and Princess Charlotte in 2015, the couple stopped for pictures on the steps of the famed Linda Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London, giving the faithful public a first look at their precious little bundle.
Clad in a bright red dress with a dainty white lace collar, Kate utterly glowed with the aura of new motherhood. Prince William stood by her side, every bit the proud new papa.
And, in his mother’s arms, was the object of a nation’s obsession - the brand new member of the Cambridge family, the yet unnamed prince, the third child of the Duke and Duchess.
Dressed in a white bonnet and white blanket, the little guy made a few adorable moves of his fingers but seemed to be mostly sleeping throughout the ordeal.
According to Express, the Duchess of Cambridge “was driven to the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington on Monday morning at around 6am after she went into the early stages of labour.
“At 11.01am she gave birth to a baby son weighing 8lbs 7oz - Kensington Palace said ‘Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.’”
Prince William left the hospital briefly, just long enough to fetch big brother George and big sister Charlotte so they could meet their baby brother.
Judging by the quick departure from the hospital, the couple has better things to do than hang around a sterile white environment when they are eager to get their new family of five together in a familiar, relaxing atmosphere.
We wish the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge the very best and wish for them love, happiness, and good sleep!
