Well, that escalated quickly!
Since Harry and Meghan first announced their pregnancy, the world has been eager to learn every detail about Baby Sussex. And while Harry and Meghan are appear very casual and open to their fans, they’ve remained quite tightlipped on the subject of their little one.
The royal mums that have gone before Meghan (specifically Princess Di and Kate Middleton) were also pretty private about all things surrounding their little ones, however, they each offered very public moments to fans and paparazzi once their little ones arrived. Many people are familiar with the famous photoshoots that happened just hours after the delivery outside the steps of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital. While Diana and Kate had entertained fans so publicly, fans couldn’t help but hope Meghan would do the same.
But those who follow Meghan know that she is far more private and unconventional in terms of Royal practices than her sister-in-law, Kate. Up until now, it’s been humored that Meghan, an American commoner, will likely not offer press a photoshoot hours after delivering her first born. And with the couple having just moved from Kensington to Windsor, it’s likely that they won’t delivery at the Lindo Wing either. The Royals must have gotten word of the rumors surrounding their delivery process, because on April 11th, they released specific instructions to fans and the press.
While some fans were thrilled to finally know a little bit about the Duke and Duchess’ plan for the baby, but unfortunately, many were disappointed and some were even angry!
The Royal Communications team announced that the public will not no any details about the birth other than when the Duchess goes into labor. The announcement confirmed the couple have made the decision to keep all things surrounding the birth private, however, they will be offering photographs a couple days after Baby arrives as they would like the “opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”
The statement did, however, thanked people for their well-wishes in the lead up to the impending birth. The statement read, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby.” But according to several local British outlets, fans are offended at the way Harry and Meghan have chosen to go about the birth of their first born.
When the hosts of the British show, Jeremy Vine learned the news, they were “affronted.” They were upset to learn that Harry and Meghan wouldn’t even be sharing the height, weight, and gender of the baby until they decided to. One hosts shared that she believed this was Meghan’s way of getting back at the press for representing her poorly. The women shouted that for as long as they were paying for the Royal Family’s lifestyle, they were entitled to that information! Check out the video below!
