January 04, 2019

2019 has taken quite a turn for mega-star, Britney Spears.

The legendary artist has been working endlessly for her next Las Vegas show, “Britney Domination,” for the last several months. The show was scheduled to start on February 13th and continue for a total of 32 shows at the new Park MGM resort.

After months of preparation and a nearly sold-out show, Britney made a devastating announcement to her fans.

In an Instagram post, the superstar shared a picture herself standing in front of her parents. She captioned the photo: “I don’t even know where to start with this because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make.”

Fans read on as the star began to reveal some of the hardships that she was privately walking through in recent months. She added, “A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand.”

Knowing that the show was already almost sold out and hundreds of thousands of people had already made travel arrangements, Britney assured everyone that they had purchased a ticket would get a refund. She added, “I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always.”

The news led fans to be saddened by the postponement of the show but also surprisingly gracious. After the singer made her announcement, MGM Resorts also shared more about her hiatus and as well as a more detailed update on her father, Jamie Spears. The press released that not only would her show be canceled, but that she would be on a work hiatus indefinitely

The MGM Resort press release read, “We wholly understand and respect Britney’s commitment to her family and believe that her place is with them during this important time. After a long, complicated post-operative period, he is recuperating at home and gaining strength, and is expected to make a full recovery.”

Jamie Spears suffered from a sudden ruptured colon and was taken in for emergency surgery where he stayed in the hospital over the next 28 days. Please keep him your prayers and please pray for Britney who is heartbroken to have disappointed her fans.
