On April 3rd, 2018, Buckingham Palace announced the terrible news that Prince Phillip of England was being admitted to the hospital. After years of mobility issues, he is finally getting surgery on his hip. Although, his body's current condition may have a difficult time recovering.
In an official statement, the Palace announced: “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London this afternoon, for planned surgery on his hip which will take place tomorrow.”
While this news is rapidly going viral, it doesn’t necessarily come as a shock; In the past 10 days, Prince Philip has missed three official engagements. One of those events being quite a monumental one; Prince Philip was going to formally announce his son, Prince Andrew, as the new Colonel of the Grenadier Guards. Prince Philip is an incredibly proud leader and his decision to miss such an event was undoubtedly a difficult choice for him to make.
In each appearance over the last few years, the Prince has appeared to be in less and less good health. His absence from his latest royal engagements is not strictly due to his hip; each day his internal health decreases. His physical appearance shows the long years and pain quite strikingly and within the last several months, his physical mobility has decreased at a staggering rate.
In 2017, Prince Philip officially retired from his public duties, however, as the Queen’s husband, his duties hardly slowed down. Over the couple years, the Prince’s health has landed him in the hospital or on bed-rest of some sort more than once. In June 2017, PEOPLE records that he was hospitalized for an infection stemming from a “pre-existing condition.”
Prince Philip’s hip surgery may keep him away from the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, especially if his poor health slows down his recovery process.
Please be praying for his health and his family. The Queen and Prince Philip have been married for 70 years and her mind most likely needs some peace. We will be praying for them!
