September 06, 2018

The world was shocked and saddened by the unexpected news that one of Hollywood’s most enduring stars has passed away. Burt Reynolds, age 82, suffered a heart attack on Thursday at his Florida estate and died after being transported to the hospital.

Now we have insight into the mega-celeb city’s final moments; TMZ has obtained the frantic 9-1-1 call in which a “male caller tells emergency operators Reynolds is experiencing trouble breathing and chest pain. The caller also says Reynolds is awake but not answering questions. The call was made just after noon on Thursday.”

Mr. Reynolds has suffered from heart problems for many years, culminating in major surgery in February of 2010. A spokesperson for Mr. Reynolds says that the movie star had been in frail health in recent years and was on medication for his health condition. He has reportedly been “in and out of the hospital” in recent years.

Reynolds was the number one box office star in the ‘70s and starred with such talented leading ladies as Sally Fields, Goldie Hawn, and Dolly Parton. But his most notorious claim-to-fame was his infamous foray into ‘modeling’ when he posed ‘au natural’ for the centerfold of Cosmopolitan magazine.

According to TMZ, Burt had some regrets about his decision to do the revealing pose, “The photo became a national sensation. However, Burt expressed regrets about it later, saying, ‘It was really stupid. I don't know what I was thinking. I really wish I hadn't done that.’

Reynolds was linked to some of the most beautiful ladies in Hollywood including Dinah Shore, Sally Field, and the one who eventually became his wife, Loni Anderson.

Friends of the legendary star posted their tributes to Reynolds on social media. Arnold Schwarzenegger had this to say:

“Burt Reynolds was one of my heroes. He was a trailblazer. He showed the way to transition from being an athlete to being the highest paid actor, and he always inspired me. He also had a great sense of humor - check out his Tonight Show clips. My thoughts are with his family.”

Country songbird, Reba McIntyre, had this to say,

“My good friend has started a new journey. Rest in my peace, my friend. I’ll never forget the wonderful times we spent together.“

And longtime friend, Dolly Parton, gave a touching tribute to her longtime pal that speaks for all of us as we reflect upon this deeply-felt loss:

“Oh, how sad I am today along with Burt’s millions of fans around the world as we mourn one of our favorite leading men. I know we will always remember his funny laugh, that mischievous sparkle I his eyes, and his quirky sense of humor. You will always be my favorite sheriff, rest in peace, my little buddy. I will always love you-Dolly”
