No matter what is going on in the world right now, there is one topic that is continually dominating headlines: the new royal baby! Whether you’re from the U.K. or the opposite side of the globe, the family, as a whole, is utterly fascinating. Now that news has broken that an heir to the throne has been born, people are beside themselves with excitement.
For many months, we all patiently waited to find out all of the details about Prince William and Kate Middleton’s third child. On April 23, 2018, a beautiful, chubby-cheeked baby boy came into the world in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London. Kate and her little prince are reportedly doing quite well as they are now at home and adjusting to their life as a family of five.
As for the extended family, many are left wondering just what they think about the newborn. Are they thrilled that the lineage is continuing to expand at a rapid pace? Thankfully, various members of the family have spoken up and voiced their opinion on the matter. The good news is that all are overjoyed with the little one’s birth!
Many have wondered just how Prince Charles’ wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, feels about grandchildren. She currently has three of her own, all shared with her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles. In a recent documentary called The Real Camilla: HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, she opened up quite a bit concerning her true feelings about being a grandmother. Many feel that this is the most relatable we’ve seen her thus far.
In the documentary, the 70-year-old left no stone unturned on the subject matter. Her three biological grandchildren are twins Gus and Louis, and Eliza. The three kiddos crafted a unique and fitting name for her, calling her “Gan Gan.”
Speaking about her role as Gan Gan, the Duchess said, “It’s very nice because you haven’t got the full responsibility. You can give them a wonderful time, spoil them, give them all the things their parents won’t allow them to have and then give them back again.”
She then went to talk about Prince Charles and his relationship with all the grandchildren. He has three of his own: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and the baby Prince. She said when she’s with any of the grandchildren, she enjoys spending time reading to the little ones. Despite her enjoyment, she’s not the overall crowd favorite when it comes to books.
Prince Charles seems to be the family favorite at story time. “He sits down, and they all sit with him. I always think they are going to be wriggling around in bed, but they sit spellbound. He’s extremely good with children. They love it,” she said happily.
Despite the negative attention the Duchess continues to draw, one thing is for sure: she loves her family, both biological and those by marriage. Even though she’s continually in the limelight, she and Charles still find time for the little moments in life with the ones they hold so dear.
