It’s one of the oldest arguments in the book! You say, “I don’t snore!” And your spouse says back to you, “Um, yes you do.” And the conversation is never-ending! If you snore, don’t worry. You are not alone! About 40% of men and 25% of women are habitual snorers. It’s a natural human experience and, many times, you’re completely unaware when - or if - it happens! If you do find yourself curious about how to make the snoring end, however, then we’ve got some tried-and-true tips for you!

#1 Try a warm shower before bed! This will keep your nasal passages clear. After all, snoring is caused when air going through the throat and/or nasal passage is compressed.

#2 Sleep in a different position. My husband loves to sleep on his back, which means he snores. If you tend to be a back-sleeper, then the back of your tongue has a chance to press against your throat which, again, compresses your nasal passages. Try sleeping on your side or on your stomach!

#3 Drink water! Water has endless benefits. From the drastic health improvement it can provide, to the simple quench of thirst, water is an unbeatable remedy for nearly everything. Staying hydrated is great because it will keep your throat and nasal passages moist, and snoring tends to be more common when those areas are dry.

#4 Breathing strips. There are loads of strips out there that you can buy over-the-counter to help with your snoring. You simply place them on the bridge of your nose and they lift open your nasal passages. Also, there’s no harsh odor, and that’s always a plus!

#5 Purchase a humidifier. This is my personal favorite remedy, especially in the winter when it’s so dry. When the house is warm, cozy, and dry, snoring tends to increase. Keep moisture in your home.

Those five simple things should help you with your snoring and also cut back on the number of times you have the same conversation - swearing that either your partner snores or you don’t. In the end, you might just need to catch up on Z-Z-Zs and, if that’s the case, then that’s okay too! Remember, snoring is normal!
