Losing a loved one is never easy. It’s one of life’s greatest tragedies that, unfortunately, doesn’t quite come with a “rule book.” People handle grief very differently and many creatives and artists find that expression is the easiest way to heal through the pain.
The legendary music artist, Celine Dion, knows the pain and heartache of losing a loved one. Three years ago, Dion lost her husband, Rene Angelil, to an illness. Since his passing, she has done her best to keep his memory alive in the best ways possible.
On the third anniversary of his passing, Dion made sure to highlight her love and adoration for him. She stood on stage in a glamorous white gown surrounded by a sold out stadium full of fans and belted her hit “My Heart Will Go On.” She then moved on to her touching tribute to Angelil and sang “You’re The Voice.”
Following the song, she took a moment to talk about him. “This is the greatest gift that I can offer him for his birthday. What he loved the most in the world is the fans, the music, and to see me perform for you.”
She heartily encouraged the crowd to join in on the number with her. As soon as the beautiful melody was completed, Dion “blew a kiss toward the heavens and said, ‘Happy Birthday, my love.’”
This, undoubtedly, touched everyone in the audience as they could visibly see the love and adoration she still held in her heart for her deceased spouse. In an interview last year, Dion was asked about her romantic life. A source divulged her honest opinion.
“Her husband was the love of her life and living without him is still incredibly painful for her…[she] isn’t ready to date and she might never be. She talks about the love of her life often and still believes he is with her in many ways.”
While he is no longer here on earth with her, she certainly has made it her goal to always carry him and his love in her heart with her wherever she goes. Her adoration for him will never fade, and it’s so beautiful to see such a strong love in Hollywood where love rarely lasts anymore.
