As Prince Charles nears his 70th birthday, the question uppermost in his mind has to be, "When will I be King?" If the report in Daily Star Online is to be believed, that question may finally have been answered.
A source claims that "Charles could effectively take charge when the Queen turns 95 if she makes him Prince Regent and scales back her own involvement. The Queen is set to turn 95 on April 21, 2021."
The source goes on to say, “Her Majesty will hand over more power to Prince Charles and he could become Prince Regent,” the source added, “but Her Majesty will still be Queen until her last day."
The oldest person to ever become king was in 1830 when William IV ascended to the throne at age 64 years and ten months. Charles is already well past that age and he has to be wondering how many more productive years he has left.
With his mother showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon, Charles better hope he inherited his parents' longevity!
The Queen's own mother lived to 101, so if Elizabeth follows in the Queen Mother's footsteps and lives to that ripe old age, that means ten more years for Charles to wait. By then he will be 80!!
While we by no means wish Her Majesty anything but a long and healthy life, we can't help but feel a little sorry for Charles and pray that he lives long enough to finally take over the throne - as he's trained his whole life to do!
