Prince Charles 70th Birthday Tribute Gives Subtle Nod To Princess Diana, But Only True Royal Fans Caught It

November 15, 2018

Once November 14th, 2018, Prince Charles celebrated his 70th birthday at Buckingham Palace. With his iconic family and a small circle of life-long friends, the future King of England was showered in celebration.

This year’s celebration was very special to all; 70 is a monumental age and all made sure that Charles felt love and adoration. In honor of the Prince’s birthday, several media outlets and fans recognized his birthday via social media.

On especially sincere tribute was from the Clarence House Twitter page. Clarence House is the Royal residence of the Prince of Wales and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla. Clarence House also acts as the official social platform for the Prince of Wales.

On November 13th, a beautiful tribute video was shared in honor of Prince Charles’ birthday. The video shared several pictures of the prince over the years and allowed fans to see some highly personal moments from his life.

As the pictures ranged from 1948 (his birth year)to the present day, it was impossible not to smile. The pictures marked special moments in his life; his teenage years, his time in the military, and of course, starting his own family.

Of course, several images of Charles and his wife, Camilla, appeared on the screen. But fans were thrilled when a photo of Prince Charles and his first wife, Princess Diana, appeared.

As you may know, Prince Charles famously divorced Princess Diana and later married Camilla Parker Bowels. Prince Charles’ marriage to Diana was short but immensely popular. The relationship between him and the two ladies was messy, exploited, and fans took extreme sides in the divorce between Charles and Diana.

Known as “The People’s Princess,” Diana was adored by the world. She died tragically in 1997, leaving behind two young sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, and a world of fans.

Seeing her image sent Royal fans into a craze.

The Royal Family has remained quite tight-lipped on all things related to Princess Diana so it was rather surprising too Clarence House publicly acknowledge her. While many who viewed the tribute to Prince Charles casually watched, only true royal fans known the enormity of their decision to share the image of Prince Charles with Princess Diana and their two sons.

What did you think about the slideshow? Did you see it? We wish Prince Charles a very happy birthday!
