Weed Killer And Fatal Chemical Discovered In Your Favorite Cereals And Snacks- High Alert Recall Happening

August 15, 2018

Concerning news has just hit the stands and it’s something that all adults need to be highly aware of: glyphosate, a chemical used in weed killer, has been discovered in some of the most popular breakfast cereals and snacks.

43 out of 45 products tested were reported highly positive for the cancerous chemical, glyphosate.

The discovery was made by Environmental Working Group (EWG) after realizing that high percentages of glyphosate in products made with “conventionally grown oats.”

According to EWG, “Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup, the Monsanto weed killer that is the most heavily used pesticide in the U.S.”

Popular granola products, products with instant oats, oat breakfast cereals, snack bar, and whole oats. The following name brand products have the highest levels of glyphosate: Quaker Old Fashioned Oats, Cheerios, Quaker Dinosaur Egg Instant Oats, Great Value Instant Oats, Quaker Chewy Chocolate Chip granola bars, and Back to Nature Classic Granola.

The EWG claims that this was made possible due to the growth and maintenance of the oats: “Each year, more than 250 million pounds of glyphosate are sprayed on American crops, primarily on ‘Roundup-ready’ corn and soybeans genetically engineered to withstand the herbicide. But when it comes to the food we eat, the highest glyphosate levels are not found in products made with GMO corn.”

Quaker too released a statement confirming that their levels of glyphosate are being monitored. “We proudly stand by the safety and quality of our Quaker products. Any levels of glyphosate that may remain are significantly below any limits of the safety standards set by the EPA and the European Commission as safe for human consumption.”

Beware of any products containing glyphosate and be sure to share this story to spread the word!
