The tragic Watts Family triple-murder case that first captivated Americans in August 2018 is in an astonishing new development.
On August 13, 2018, news broke that pregnant mother, Shanann Watts, along with her two daughters, Celeste “Cece” (3), and Bella (4), was missing. After the only remaining member of the family gave a rather odd explanation to the police, father, Chris Watts, was arrested and questioned under major suspicion.
In the following days, the Watts girls, Shannon, Cece, and Bella were discovered at Chris Watt’s former job site. Having been fired just days before the disappearance of his family, it was learned that Chris had been gone to great lengths to dispose of his own family’s bodies.
On August 15th, it Chris admitted murdering his pregnant wife, Shanann, and disposing of his two daughters. After meeting with father in an interrogation room, Chris revealed that his murdered his wife only after he saw her strangling their two daughters.
The confessional video, which was originally obtained by The Denver Post, shows Chris talking with his father, Ronnie. Chris tells his father, ““I freaked out, you understand me.” Chris added that he went his motivation for killing Shanann was “rage.”
After hearing his son’s murder words, Ronnie put is head in his hands and signed, “God Almighty, son.”
Over the next months, it was believed that Shanann had been the one to murder her children before Chris murdered her, but Chris’ guilty pleads revealed a different story. On November 6th, Chris Watts plead guilty to killing all three of his family members.
According to PEOPLE, Chris pleaded to nine charges: five counts of first-degree murder, one count of unlawful termination of pregnancy and three counts of tampering with a dead body. On November 19th, Chris Watts was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Since his sentence, his original confession to his father has been released. Since surfacing, several outlets have re-shared this video of Chris Watts lying to his father. These families must be grieving deeply- please pray for them as they navigate this tragedy.
