Famous Actor Confirms Role As Ronald Reagan After Feeling A ‘Shiver Of Fear’ Down His Spine- Fans Are Ecstatic

August 23, 2018

Ronald Reagan was perhaps one of the most iconic American presidents. As an actor turned politician, Reagan served as the United States’ 40th president whose term saw a ‘restoration of prosperity, and the goal of peace through strength seemed to be within grasp.’ Today, he is remembered as one of the greatest Presidents in history as a leader who served, entertained, and forever changed the country.

In 2004, Ronald Reagan died from Alzheimers. Nearly 14 years later, a movie about the iconic president is being casted by a beloved actor: Dennis Quaid.

While an absolute honor to play the role of Ronald Reagan, Dennis admitted to Fox News that his initial feeling was anything but encouraging. According to film’s producer, Mark Joseph, Dennis was the first pick for Ronald Reagan. While the producer and crew felt great about Dennis play Reagan, Dennis was completely terrified.

Dennis revealed: “[I’m] really, really nervous… When I got offered the role about four months ago, I couldn’t give them an answer. I had a shiver of fear go up my spine. I don’t really feel that I look like Ronald Reagan. But usually, that shiver of fear is a sign to me that I should do something because it takes me out of my comfort zone.”

Despite’s his initial response, Dennis decided that the role was worth it: he agreed to play Reagan!

Since agreeing to the role, Dennis has gotten a chance to learn more about Ronald Reagan than he ever imagined. He’s had a chance to meet with his friends and family and even got a chance to visit the famous Reagan Ranch in California. It was at the ranch that Dennis shared his most personal understanding of Reagan.

Dennis shared that while visiting the ranch, he was able to know Reagan. He shared: “When you drive up there, the place is surprisingly small and humble,” he said. “And they left it just as it was when Reagan was there for the last time really. [His clothes along with Nancy's] are in their closets and you just feel like they’re going to come back in 30 minutes. It still has their 1974 house appliances.” He added, “His books in the bookcase are a real treasure for me. I tried to read most of them. And he used to build all the fences and mowed the grass. You could really feel him there.”

The movie portrays the personhood of Ronald Reagan rather than the icon. The story is about him as a man- which is what Dennis has been most excited for.

The crew is hoping to premiere Reagan in the summer of 2019. Will Reagan be on your movie radar during its release? Let us know what you think in the comments!
