Discovery Channel reality series "Storm Chasers" star, Joel Taylor, died on January 23, 2018. He was 38 years old.
Joel’s death was publicly announced by his former co-star, Reed Timmer, on Tuesday. He shared the devastating news on his social media accounts by writing: "I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend,'' Timmer wrote on Twitter. "We chased so many intense storms, and I wish we could have just one more storm chase. I'll miss you forever, Joel. We lost a legend."
"Storm Chasers" aired for five seasons on Discovery Channel from 2007-2012. Teams of storm chasers would learn of massive storms and chase after them in hope of capturing tremendous footage. Joel was a star on the show for all five seasons.
Joel was known for his charisma and genuine love for nature. He was always seen smiling and eager to see storms. His love for storms captivated audiences everywhere and he was truly loved by many of the show’s viewers.
One storm-chasing group in Oklahoma heard the news and shared some kind and thoughtful words regarding the heartbreaking news: "He was one of the most level-headed chasers on the roads and truly a classy guy outside of chasing,'' the group wrote. "He didn’t chase for the glory, he chased because he had a true passion for storms."
Joel, you are gone but not forgotten. Rest in peace.
