Don Johnson is an American actor, producer, and singer who has been winning hearts over since he first stepped on stage in 1969. With his good looks and easy smile, it’s not hard to see why he’s still so beloved - even to this day. In honor of the fact that he’s turning 68 this year, we’re looking back at how far he’s come in his life!

Donald Wayne Johnson was born in Flat Creek, Missouri on December 15, 1949. He was born to 19-year-old Nell Wilson, a beautician, and 17-year-old Wayne Fred Johnson, a farmer. When he was six years old, they moved to Wichita Kansas, where he would later graduate from Wichita South High School and then the University of Kansas.

After college, he went on to study drama at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. The education he received there helped him land his first major role in the 1969 Los Angeles production of “Fortune and Men’s Eyes,” in which he played the lead role of Smitty. The role then brought him to the often forgotten film, “The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart.”

His star-making role, however, was that of undercover police detective Sonny Crockett in the television series, “Miami Vice.” When he wasn’t filming for Miami Vice, he could be found working on smaller mini-series such as “The Long, Hot Summer” which helped further his reputation as a star. After his work on Miami Vice, he went on to work on another police drama, “Nash Bridges,” from 1996 to 2001.

From there, he went on to work on a variety of projects such as “Just Legal,” “When In Rome,” “Machete,” and “Django Unchained.” During his 48-year acting career, Don has worked on over 84 different projects and has received six awards, including one Golden Globe. Hopefully, we’ve got many more years to come from this wonderful actor!

When he isn’t acting, Don Johnson can be found spending time with his beloved family and friends. On April 29, 1999, he married the love of his life, a Montessori nursery school teacher named Kelley Pleger, and the two have since had three children together, Atherton Grace, Jasper Breckinridge, and Deacon. He also has two other children, Jesse Wayne and Dakota from previous marriages.
