Hearts broke around the world when the dynamic sibling duo of Donny and Marie Osmond officially announced that they were ending their Las Vegas residency. This comes after more than a decade of faithfully performing for their fans in the famous city.
Donny, 61, announced the sad news on Good Morning America on Thursday, March 21st, 2019. He began with referencing the long-time rumor that he and his sister, Marie, would be leaving their show behind. He shared, “It’s been rumored that we’re bringing Donny & Marie to an end here in Las Vegas…And we’re here to say it’s official.”
After making the initial announcement, he continued breaking the hearts of his fans everywhere. “We have been through so much the last 11 years. Her particularly.” Of course, Donny was referencing his equally famous sister. “And she gets on stage and she’s such a professional. She does a great job. I’m gonna miss this a lot… There’s a bond here that will never be broken.”
The siblings were visibly heartbroken as they reflected on their experiences that they- more so, Marie, endured during their Vegas residency. Donny referenced the difficult that his sister has endured, and while he mentioned their love for performing together, he made sure to focus on his sister’s mental health and her best interests: her heart.
To make the moment a little lighter, Marie jumped in with some light-hearted humor saying, “You know each other’s buttons and I will never let anybody hurt him. Just me!”
The pair made sure the let fans know that even though they are ending their time in Las Vegas, When asked about their plans for their final shows at Flamingo Las Vegas, Donny said, “I have no tricks. I’m just gonna get up there and have the time of my life. The end of the Donny & Marie show is not the end of Donny and Marie,” he concluded.
