On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made their first official appearance as husband and wife, and had a great day of it, especially when Harry went to the podium to make a speech. Meghan and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall happened to be standing next to one another when the most unexpected thing happened. And neither of the Royal Wives could keep a straight face when they noticed Harry’s distress.
The Royals were attending the Prince of Wales' 70th Birthday Patronage Celebration at Buckingham Palace when the laugh-fest occurred - all due to an uninvited guest who tried to crash the festivities.
If it hadn’t been for Harry’s impeccable training in Royal composure, the situation might have gotten the best of the brand new Duke of Sussex.
Good Housekeeping tells it like this: “The newlywed was caught giggling with her mother-in-law after a bumblebee flew into Prince Harry's face while he made remarks on stage. 'Sorry, that bee really got me,' he joked" after composing himself to resume his speech.
Once the little feller flew away, the Duke was able to finish his speech without further incident. Although most royals maintain a stiff, stoic countenance when appearing in public, this unplanned outburst only served to endear the quartet to us.
It’s always refreshing to see the human side of Royals, and Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince Harry, and Meghan certainly did that!
Although the Prince of Wales’ birthday isn’t until November 14th, the Royal Family often celebrate according to the weather. Even Queen Elizabeth celebrates her April birthday in June every year just so the chances of sunny skies are much greater.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex purposefully delayed their honeymoon in order to attend today's festivities. They plan to jet off to an undisclosed location later on, just like Prince William and Kate Middleton. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also waited two weeks after their 2011 wedding before leaving for a remote island in Seychelles.”
