Evidence At Scene Sheds Disturbing Light On Funnyman Will Ferrel’s Late Night Car Crash - As Authorities Step Up Investigation

April 13, 2018

Hollywood funnyman, Will Ferrell was involved in a two-car collision on The I-5 freeway in Mission Viejo, California on Thursday night. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance and treated for his injuries. The investigation into the cause of the 11:00 PM collision is underway.

The wreck happened when Ferrell's chauffeur-driven SUV was sideswiped by another vehicle, causing the SUV to flip. No details are available as to why both vehicles were trying to occupy the same place in the lane.

Ferrell, 50, was on his way back from San Diego where he attended a “Funny or Die” event in the guise of his alter-ego, Ron Burgundy. He was, reportedly, still dressed in his costume at the time of the accident.

The actor was taken to the hospital after the accident and can be seen talking on his cell phone as he’s being loaded into the ambulance. He appears to be fully conscious.

Two other passengers were with Ferrell in the SUV, one of them is reported to have been seriously injured.

TMZ is reporting that “open beer bottles were seen on the road after the SUV was pulled upright. It's not clear which vehicle they came out of ... and police have not said if alcohol played a factor in the accident.” The investigation will continue.

According to the recording of the emergency audio, there was “one critical” injury with “one [person] trapped in the car still.” The first responder requested a second ambulance for the victim still trapped in the car but did not think the "jaws of life" would be necessary.

7:40 AM PT -- "Will's rep tells us he's been released from the hospital and is doing well. He did not suffer any significant injury.

8:21 AM PT -- "Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... the SUV was struck from the left rear by a Toyota vehicle, causing the SUV to spin and flip over. We're told drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident. No one was arrested and cops continue investigating."

No information is available on the identities or conditions of the other two passengers. Check back later for further updates as this story unfolds.
