The feud between American TV actress, Meghan Markle and her estranged family is heating up. And new tensions threaten to cast a pall over the joy surrounding her upcoming wedding to Prince Harry of the UK in May.
With just a few short weeks to go before the nuptials, Samantha Markle Grant, who shares a father with the princess-to-be, is lashing out at her half-sister, presumably over the hurt of being omitted from the guest list for the May 19th event.
Although it has been widely reported that Meghan’s social worker/yoga instructor mom, Doria Ragland (pictured, below, with her daughter), will be present for her daughter’s “I dos”, it appears that no one from their father’s “other” family has been invited to witness the nuptials.
And that's precisely what has Samantha Markle Grant so hot under the collar!
Conflicting reports about Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, and whether or not he will actually walk the bride down the aisle are still unconfirmed, although we can’t imagine his missing out on his beloved little girl’s big day.
It is believed that Thomas Senior (pictured, below, with newborn Meghan) lives a "hermit-like" existence in Mexico and rarely ventures forth. Only time will tell if his little girl’s wedding will be enough to get him on a plane.
In the meantime, Samantha Markle Grant has become the self-appointed spokesperson for the 'slighted' branch of Meghan’s family tree and is not pulling any punches in expressing her disappointment and anger over having been passed over for the privilege of being there.
No matter what the bad blood is between the sisters, it seems clear that if Meghan were to invite them, it would be extending an olive branch as a first step toward repairing some of the damage caused by a broken family.
Hard feelings are all-too-commonplace among children of divorce and in Meghan’s family, this sad reality appears to hold true as well.
News.com.eu reveals Grant's rancorous tweets: “Out of respect and humanitarianism, the Markles should be invited if 2,000 complete strangers are." Samantha goes on to mention numerous relatives and close friends who have been passed over for an invitation.
“Our uncle, brother, me, best friend of 30 years, nephews. Our issue is not a matter of closeness. Family is family.”
Samantha, who suffers from M.S. tweeted, “I hope London is wheelchair-friendly!” before she realized that she would NOT be on the guest list.
Though not confirmed, it is widely rumored that her father, Thomas Markle will, indeed, walk Meghan down the aisle on May 19th.
No matter how this "Family Feud" works itself out, we can rest assured that the wedding will go off without a hitch - with or without Samantha and her family members present. Maybe it's the romantic in me, but I just can't help but hope they find a way to work through their hurt and anger and end up at St. George's Chapel, front and center, for the biggest day of their sister's life!
Now, that's the way a fairy tale should end!!
