Heartbreaking news has confirmed that Top Chef star, Fatima Ali, has died.

The adored star, just 29 years old, was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer, called Ewing’s Sarcoma, in January 2018. After beginning chemotherapy, she was hopeful that she would survive and enter remission. However, after nearly eight months, she was told that she was terminal.

A Food Network representative confirmed the loss in an emotional statement. The statement read, “We are deeply saddened to share the news that Fatima Ali has lost her courageous battle with cancer. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this time. People not only fell in love with her cooking but fell in love with her personality and heart. We hope that the beautiful memories shared with her will provide comfort to everyone who knew and loved her.”

As a young celebrity, Fatima shared her sad news with her social media followers. Fatima shared her struggle with chemotherapy very transparently, but her fans never knew how serious she was until she wrote a blog post for the iconic food lover’s magazine, Bon Appetite.

Fatima sadly wrote, “The cancer cells my doctors believed had vanished are back with a vengeance in my left hip and femur bone.” She added that her oncologist told her she likely had “a year to live, with or without the new chemotherapy regimen.”

Just two weeks before she died, Fatima shared an update with her friends, family, and followers. She asked for prayer and wrote, “I know it’s been ages since I posted and most may have figured out why. I’m sick and, unfortunately, I’m getting sicker.”

She continued, “Right now all I need are prayers; prayers that are simple. I hope, because a wish is putting on too much responsibility on the other, that you will somehow find forgiveness in your big heart for whenever I must have hurt you. I thank you a million times over for when you have given me joy.”

Please keep Fatima’s family in your prayers. As a young girl, she sure made her mark on the world; she followed her dreams, she worked hard at her passion, and she remained positive despite her fate. We are praying for her family during this difficult time.
