The urgent search for missing 13-year-old Wisconsin girl has gone nationwide as the FBI takes over the investigation into the mysterious disappearance of Jayme Close. The young teen vanished on the same night that her parents, 56-year-old James Closs, and 45-year-old Denise Closs, 45 were found dead in their Barron Nebraska home. Jayme has not been spotted since and is considered to be in grave danger.
Just two days after the murders and Jayme’s disappearance, hopes were raised by the report of a possible sighting in Miami, Florida. The tip was soon discounted as ‘not credible.’
Local police who received the original 9-1-1 call (no one spoke on the phone, but there was background noise) and subsequently discovered the bodies, brought in the FBI right away to assist in the suspected kidnapping case. Now, five days into the search, the FBI has taken over as principal investigators in the missing-person case.
Now, the federal organization is employing all the tools at their disposal to the first being to add Jayme to their top Missing Persons list. In so doing, the bureau steps up their appeal to the public to contact them if they have any information about Jayme or her whereabouts.
13-year-old Jayme Closs is the deceased couple’s only child and has not been seen since. Jayme is described as being 5 feet tall, 100 pounds, with green eyes and blond or strawberry blond hair.
With so little information to go on, the anxiety of the general public is coming out in various ways. In an effort to make some sense out of a seemingly incomprehensible act, some people are conjuring up all sorts of conspiracy theories. One of the most disturbing ones is that Jayme, herself, committed the murders and is on the run with a boyfriend.
With absolutely NO evidence to back up this theory, the rumor has still run wild on the internet. Some people are not having it, however, and are speaking out against jumping to this type of conclusions.
Please continue to pray for Jayme’s safe return, and for the people running the investigation. Here’s hoping that Jayme is found soon.
