As her daughter’s wedding is right around the corner, Sarah Ferguson is undoubtedly reflecting on her own romance with ex-husband Prince Andrew. And in spite of the rocky road they traveled during the course of their 13-year marriage, she seems to have nothing but steadfast devotion to her Prince Charming.
Princess Eugenie, younger of Prince Andrew and Sarah’s two daughters will be held on October 12th, and so many questions are coming up about how the rift between the mother-of-the-bride and the Royal family will pay out on the big day.
In spite of the reported animosity between Andrew’s ex and Prince Philip, in particular, the Duchess of York has nothing but good things to say about her own wedding day in 1986. ‘Fergie’ as she is widely known, opened up to Piers Morgan and tried to put into words just how she felt on that historic day.
Express reports that the Duchess described her instant transformation into being a Royal as “mesmeric”
She said: “Let me go back in time. You are taken with such a wave of energy, that it is just mesmeric, it is just extraordinary. And you're so in love -- anyway, it's your wedding day.
“Like every bride's wedding day, it's a special day. And you've got a beautiful dress on. But you're standing there with the man you love.
“And then there are people out there who are wishing you so well. And it's just extraordinary. It's just unfathomable. You can't explain it.”
One might say the Duchess was effusive in her description of what it was like, and we are amazed at how clearly she remembers anything at all, considering all the pomp and ceremony that was clearly the order of the day.
Obviously immensely in love with her husband-to-be, Fergie went on to say that the icing on the cake amid all the excitement was that she was with the man of her dreams.
In the 2011 interview which has recently resurfaced, Fergie shared: “We married for total love. And when I went up that aisle, I had - I married my man.
“I also married a sailor. And I got a prince. But my man was the most important thing for me, Piers, because nothing was more important than him.”
Wow! That takes my breath away! Isn’t this exactly what every bride hopes to feel on her wedding day?
With the depth of love and devotion between Andrew and Fergie, it’s no wonder the pair has maintained their relationship in spite of their 1999 divorce.
And why the rumors persist that the two will eventually find their way back down the aisle. Perhaps the romantic occasion of their beloved daughter Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank will be just the nudge they need to get phase two of their fairytale rolling.
