On May 5th, 2019, 73 passengers boarded a plane headed towards Murmansk, Russia. The flight was scheduled to be no more than two hours, but within just minutes of take-off, the entire plane was engulfed in flames.
In an instant, the plane was totally caught up in flames. The pilots made an emergency landing at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport, where bystanders managed to film the planes landing.
Upon landing, passengers fled from the plane in hopes of saving their lives. The death toll was originally 13, but just minutes after landing, the death toll increased dramatically.
The damage done to passengers in the air was clearly horrific, as 28 more passengers died just after landing. This may have been caused by severe injuries and smoke inhalation. As of May 6th, 2019, a total of 41 passengers- more than half of the planes total count- had been confirmed dead.
As the fiery plane landed, bystanders and airport staff and crews watched as passengers jumped out on inflatable slides. The footage, caught by bystanders, urges prayers as the crew and passengers perished.
According to investigators, there is no confirmation of what caused the plane to go down in flames. However, TMZ states some reports are surfacing that suggest a lightning bolt might've struck the plane.”
Below is one quite horrific video, shot from inside of the plane. Watch at your own risk as it’s quite disturbing to see what these poor passengers perished.
The death toll may rise as passengers are still in recovery. This fate is something so horrific, many could never even imagine. Please pray for the crew and passengers, as well as their families. May God meet them with grace and healing.
