Gunfire Erupts In Popular Restaurant, Suspect On The Run

April 23, 2018

At 3:23 am on Sunday Morning, a 29-year-old man approached a Waffle House in Antioch, Tennesse, and opened fire. The man, who was later identified as Travis Reinking, fatally shot two people who were outside of the restaurant before entering.

Once inside, the scantily-clothed Reinking continued firing, where he fatally shot two others. Multiple others were injured, with most suffering cuts from the shattered windows. The shooting came to an end following the heroic acts of another patron.

James Shaw Jr. wrestled the weapon from Reinking before fleeing on foot. According to James however, he is no hero, “I was completely doing it just to save myself. I did save other people, but I don’t want people to think that I was the Terminator or Superman or anybody like that.”

A brief look into Reinking’s past paints a trouble picture for all. He has previously been arrested for trespassing at the White House, but charges were dismissed after he completed community service.

In May of 2016, he experienced a delusional episode in his hometown of Morton, Illinois. He believed that the famous pop star, Taylor Swift, was stalking him. He then made comments about killing himself.

Tennessee schools are remaining on lock-out procedures while Reinking is on the run, and no visitors will be allowed. They will continue to follow their procedures and work with the police until Reinking has been apprehended.

At 9:50 am on Monday morning, Agents began to search the wooded area behind the Burnette Chapel Church of Christ in Antioch. The church may sound familiar, as it was the unfortunate home to a mass shooting in September 2017 where one died and several were injured.

At 10:10 am, bystanders heard rapid gunfire in multiple bursts from the woods, but no update has yet been released.

Reinking has been placed on the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s “Most Wanted” List, and has even offered a reward for information leading to his capture.

If you live in the area, please keep an eye out and remain indoors if possible. Please, pray for the victims of this horrible incident and for the safety of the officers and agents out looking for this armed and dangerous criminal.

This is a horrible story, and we know that sometimes we need a reminder of the good in the world at a time like this, so be sure to check out the video below!
