Many people remember the incredibly heartbreaking and bizarre story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. Back in the 1990s, her mother, Dee Dee, began making wild claims that her daughter suffered from numerous, crippling illnesses that required serious medical attention.
The types of “problems” Gypsy was said to have cost hundreds upon thousands of dollars and multiple surgeries and procedures were performed on her over the course of her younger years.
As fate would have it, the truth eventually came out, revealing to the world that Dee Dee had been fabricating everything about Gyspy. Gypsy was actually a very healthy child, but Dee Dee wanted to use her in a way to get attention and assistance from every avenue possible.
In 2015, Gypsy somehow convinced an online boyfriend of hers at the time to kill her mother. Their heinous plans went through and they were soon caught by the local authorities. Following the court hearings, Gypsy plead guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years behind bars.
Unlike many prisoners, Gypsy has found more peace, freedom, and contentment behind bars than she ever did as a free woman. A documentary recently aired about her incredibly insane story called The Act. This helped the whole world see things from her perspective for a change.
Shortly after this, one of Gypsy’s quieted secrets was leaked. She is now secretly engaged to a man she met since she’s been in prison. The two initially met through letters.
One of her friends spoke about it to sources: “She keeps him very private. We’re not going to release his name or anything like that, but she does have a fiance. That’s something she wouldn’t ever been able to do with her mom [around]: be engaged.”
The friend then told how the two managed to strike up a romance. “He started writing her and then visited her. They just grew to have a relationship. They’re taking it slow. They don’t know exactly what they’re going to do when she gets out. It’s a long way down the road, obviously, so things can change.”
Things have gotten serious enough now that Gypsy has already introduced him to her father and stepmother, who both keep in contact with him regularly. “They’re actually going to meet him next month, but they’ve been communicating with him for a long time through phone calls, emails, all of that.”
This certainly came as a shock to many of those familiar with her story. Most are happy, though, that despite all the mental abuse she’s endured throughout her life that she’s able to finally find happiness and peace, even if it is behind bars.
