When Prince Harry and his bride Meghan return from their honeymoon later this week, they will once again begin royal duties and appearances, much to the delight of their fans.
And, as the weeks go by, the world waits eagerly for the one piece of news that we have been hoping for. In light of the Duke and Duchess’ frequent and consistent references to their strong desire to start a family of their own, we have begun the royal ‘baby watch’ for any signs that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting the couple’s first child.
At age 36, Meghan is a bit older than most first-time mothers, but she is by no means ‘over-the-hill’ in that area. And it is certain that she is well aware that there is no better time than now to have babies with her handsome prince.
So, when the Duke and Duchess step out onto that balcony on Saturday for the annual Trooping the Colour, they will be joining the rest of the Royal Family for a much-anticipated appearance in front of their adoring subjects.
This will be the first time Meghan will appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with her husband, an iconic spectacle that millions had hoped to see three weeks earlier, on their wedding day. We're speaking of the kiss, of course.
That traditional moment had been nixed due to the traveling distance between Windsor (the nuptials venue) and Buckingham Palace. It was determined that the logistics were unfavorable for the iconic ‘kiss from the balcony’ to happen at that time. Now, exactly three weeks later, we can look forward to the opportunity for the Duke and Duchess to sneak in a little smooch between glances at the troops.
If Harry and Meghan do grant us the pleasure of seeing a balcony kiss between the newlyweds, it will satisfy only part of our curiosity on that day. We still have one more thing we will be keeping our eyes peeled for.
If you’re like me, you’ll be hoping to spot any sign of a future prince or prince on the way. While a long shot, it just might be possible for an eagle-eyed or especially intuitive royal watcher to detect even the slightest of changes in the new Duchess of Sussex - perhaps a subtle something in her eyes, her manner, or even her figure. Although it’s likely much too soon for Meghan to be sporting a baby bump, there may still be telltale signs.
Regardless of the outcome of the ‘baby inspection’ on Saturday, our scrutiny will not stop until that magic moment when we hear the official announcement from the Palace: that their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting their first child. What an extraordinary day that will be!! But, for now, we'll settle for that kiss.
