Harry and Meghan Officially Split From William and Kate! Now, They’re Asking YOU TO Follow Them
Hold the phone! Harry and Meghan have officially split from Kensington Royal and made their own account!
On Tuesday, April 2nd, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex finally made the move that their fans have been not-so-patiently waiting for. After more than a year of sharing a social media platform with their siblings, the Duke and Duchess of Kensington, Harry and Meghan made the big move to their very own profile and name.
Sussex Royal, the new Instagram home of Harry and Meghan, was finally created in hopes of becoming a place for just Harry and Meghan and Baby Sussex to share their experiences with their millions of fans. The newly titled “Official Instagram for their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex” launched and within hours, more than 2.7 million fans began following the account.
Harry and Meghan introduced their new platform with a heartfelt message that read “’Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal.’- Harry & Meghan”
The post featured 10 never-before-seen pictures of the couple and some of their most cherished memories together. In just 24 hours, the post had ushered in nearly one million likes and hundreds of thousands of comments.
A separate Instagram account for Harry and Meghan has been in the works for several months as the couple was previously sharing a handle with the Duke and Duchess of Kensington. As esteemed members of the Royal Family, private and personal Instagram are against Royal protocol. Prior to becoming a Royal, Meghan Markle had a rather large following on her personal Instagram. But since marrying into the family, the star had to deactivate her account. For the past year and several months, she’s been sharing an officially ran account with her husband and inlaws.
While many have believed in bad blood between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Duke and Duchess of Kensington, some may assume that this split in profiles is linked to the drama, however, it is likely not. As William and Harry have invested in their own families, they’ve become different people pursuing different causes; there is no bad blood, just different people. They should be able to have separate accounts as their lives are not carbon copies of each other.
If you haven’t already, be sure to follow Harry and Meghan on Instagram, as they will be sharing official pictures directly to the platform. And you can bet Baby Sussex will be making his debut here as well! We can’t wait!
