Married only a few months, Prince Harry and his bride Meghan have had a whirlwind of royal engagements that would make most of our heads spin - most recently, their grueling 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Tonga. But they have tackled the schedule with brilliant smiles and an abundance of poise.
Now, with a little bundle of joy on the way, it was time for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to take a good, hard look at their lives to make sure everything is as it should be for their new little prince or princess.
And, although the couple seems happy on the outside, there are reports that Harry has become disenchanted with the way some things are going and now feels he must make a drastic change in order to preserve their marriage.
I can only imagine the pressure that has been thrust upon the couple in the months since the world first learned of their engagement. Almost from the very moment Meghan was introduced, she became the focus of intense and unrelenting media scrutiny. And then came the criticism.
The complaints about Harry's bride-to-be have run the gamut: from her being American - to disdain for her chosen profession of acting - to the apparent dysfunction of her American family, all seemed to be fodder for the press' feeding frenzy.
Both Harry and Meghan are the ultimate professionals, meeting and greeting the public with grace and dignity, all the while turmoil is threatening to consume them from the inside.
Now, Harry is taking a stand against the ‘hysteria’ surrounding his wife and is taking steps to back up a bit to focus more on his private life with Meghan - and their baby. And ‘private’ is the operative word - something that Royals have very little of.
According to Marie Claire, “The world has been obsessed with their seemingly perfect love story right from the start, and whether it’s the Duchess’s style choices or their sweet PDA moments, every second of their public appearances together is captured on camera to be shared by millions.”
It’s no wonder the newlyweds have begun to crack - every so slightly - under the strain. Rather than let it go too far, Prince Harry is taking drastic action to set things right before it’s too late.
“So it’s no huge surprise to hear that, after months of intense scrutiny and constant hounding, Harry and Meghan are soon expected to take a step back from being in the spotlight, in order to enjoy more privacy together.”
And with the start of the annual family holiday, the time is right for the pair to escape to somewhere secluded so they can refocus their energy on what really matters - their marriage and their future.
“It’s thought that the couple is currently taking a break from their home in Kensington Palace, and renting a more secluded farmhouse cottage on the coveted Great Tew Estate, which gives them considerably more privacy.”
In a recent Vanity Fair article, one local resident explains it this way, “It’s very clear they want to be private and left alone. The property is in the middle of woodland and you wouldn’t know it was there.
It is very remote which is why they like it. It’s like a fortress. There’s a huge security presence, you can’t get close.”
Sounds like just the right spot for the newlyweds to have a chance to rekindle the romance that brought them together in the first place. Hopefully, they can take off their ‘Duke and Duchess hats’ and turn back into simply Harry and Meghan, two young married people who have an entire lifetime to look forward to! Especially when April rolls around and that new little Royal makes his or her grand entrance!!
