A baby means a bigger place! Or should we say- Palace!
Harry, Meghan, and Baby Sussex are officially moving! After nearly a year in their quant Nottingham Cottage on the Kensington Palace grounds, they’re getting a major upgrade.
The adored parents-to-be will be moving into none other than Kensington Palace!
Their new home will be in Apartment 1, right next to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Apartment 1 offers a spacious and remodeled 21-room living space with conjoining doors into William and Kate’s quarters of the house.
The couple’s current home, Nottingham Cottage, was Prince Harry’s home for several years. Meghan moved in with him after becoming engaged in November 2017. The quaint cottage is tucked peacefully behind Kensington Palace and offers rich foliage and privacy in a private courtyard. And while it’s served as a wonderful home for the two of them, the soon-to-be family of three is quickly outgrowing the two-bedroom cottage.
\The Kensington Palace apartment will be a massive upgrade to the couple. Previously occupied by the Queen’s cousins, Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. The Duke and Duchess raised their children in Apartment 1 but in recent years, they’ve become empty nesters. Harry and Meghan and their first child will take over as the newest occupants sometime during the winter.
Hoping to downsize, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester offered their home to newlyweds Harry and Meghan prior to their marriage in Mary 2018. Of course, Harry and Meghan were thrilled at the idea. Following their acceptance, Palace staff began coordinating renovations on the apartment as it needed several upgrades.
The renovation ended up costing more than £1.4 million, which translates to $1.8 million! The renovation process has been quite a long process, but in early October 2018, since then it was nearing up were finally recognized!
The construction team began removing the scaffolding and white tarpaulin at the beginning of the month- a sure sign that they the apartment is nearly move-in ready!
Harry and Meghan are in for some major upgrades in their lives; a marriage, a new home, and a child are massive changes to happen in a person’s life- and they all three are about to happen in less than year’s time for Harry and Meghan. In Nottingham, the couple relies on themselves to get tasks done, but once they’re in Kensington, they’ll be living with a full staff.
Harry and Meghan will live in Apartment 1 with their first born and their two dogs, Guy and Oz. Apartment 1 will be the perfect place for them to build their family!
