The royal father-to-be, Prince Harry, recently let his true feelings show in a raw, real way, and the timing couldn’t have been more...interesting.
The world has been wildly abuzz with the biggest news thus far concerning the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. On April 3, Harry and Meghan made a massive debut where they officially split from the shared social media account with William and Kate and branched off to their very own.
It was a surprise to no one that it was a total hit. In less than 24 hours, the royal duo had garnered over a million followers! They started things off right with their official introductory post.
“Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support and welcome you to @sussexroyal. - Harry & Meghan”
What made many scratch their heads in confusion over the entire situation was what Prince Harry had said just hours before the launch.
He spoke about his fears of social media and how he thinks they truly affect this generation in a negative way. He stated, “We are in a mind-altering time,” and he went on to discuss the dangers of online gaming.
“Growing up in today’s world, social media is more addictive than drugs or alcohol. Yet, it’s more dangerous because it’s normalized and there are no restrictions on it. We are in a mind-altering time,” he stated.
While many fully believed in the accuracy of his feelings, they were a bit taken aback when the following day he launched his own social media account with Meghan. While this is their official one and likely run by one of their devout staffers, it will be on that will encourage many more to follow suit and continue to the trend of relentless usage of social media.
What do you think about this? Do you think it’s rather contradictory? Do you believe Harry actually wanted this or that Meghan was more for it than he?
