Harry’s Insistence On Having Ex-Girlfriends At Wedding Says A Lot About His Character, But It Might Not Be What You Were Thinking

May 30, 2018

Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding on May 19th, tongues have been wagging about a completely unexpected and shocking scene. There, among the survivors of a carefully whittled-down guest list, two chairs were occupied by people who were the last ones on earth anyone would expect to be there.

Because the right to attend the wedding was denied to even close family members, it remains a mystery why these two attendees were able to score a coveted spot at St. George’s Chapel.

We’re talking about Harry’s ex-girlfriends Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas, of course, whose presence at the Royal Affair is raising not only eyebrows but also a lot of questions about the true nature of their current relationship with the new husband of Meghan Markle.

According to Vanity Fair, “Davy was one of the first wedding guests to arrive. She dated Prince Harry on and off from 2003 to 2010 and they have reportedly been friendly ever since. The two even attended Prince William’s wedding together in 2011.

"Prince Harry clearly still has a relationship with her, even if it is now a platonic relationship,” royal expert William Hanson said. “That speaks to the character of anybody if they are able to, after a decent break and slight readjustment, still get on with someone who played a major character in their life."

Even though their romantic relationship ended, Prince Harry and Davy, a Zimbabwean jewelry designer, reportedly had an “emotional” phone call days before the wedding.

“It was their final call, a parting call in which they both acknowledged Harry was moving on," a source told Vanity Fair. "Chelsy was quite emotional about it all, she was in tears and almost didn’t go to the wedding. In the end, she went and promised Harry she wouldn’t try and gatecrash the party.

"Bonas, an English actress and model who dated the newly-wed prince for two years, has continued a friendship with him but the pair is not particularly close.”

People explains away the seemingly odd occurrence, “Prince Harry and his exes share similar groups of friends. Bonas is close to Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, who is rumored to have introduced the former couple.”

It is reported that new bride, Meghan, is fine with her husband continuing his relationship with two of his former flames, and this speaks not only to her character but also to the strength of their relationship.

After all, once the “honeymoon is over” and romance is replaced with the tedious day-to-day obligations of not only married life but also royal duty, Harry can find solace in Meghan's unquestioning devotion to him and this generous gesture by his bride that shows how much she loves and trusts him.

Only time will tell if Harry can break the unspoken “tradition” of Royal men stepping out on their wives, but if Meghan's wise attitude is any indication of the state of their relationship, she shouldn't have anything to worry about.

To help keep the magic they have today alive, it might be wise for the newlyweds to watch the video, below, often in the coming years.
