On Saturday, the entire Royal Family (minus retired 97-year-old Prince Philip and seven-week-old Prince Louis) gathered for one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year: The Trooping the Colour Parade in which all of Britons military might is displayed in front of an appreciative Queen.
The event included young children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and cousins Savannah and Isla Phillips in the front row so they could get a good view of the passing spectacle. And, as young children often do when they are together at an adult event, the Royal brood started messing around, jumping and mugging to pass the time.
But one little Royal nearly had a devastating injury as her jumping around resulted in a fall from her stool. And if it hadn’t been for the quick reaction of her mum, Duchess Kate, she might have sustained a serious injury. Although there was very little danger of her tumbling over the edge, it was still a heart-stopping moment to witness.
Once the little princess realized her near-miss with the concrete floor of the balcony, she burst into tears, only to be consoled by her sympathetic mother who managed to catch her before she hit the ground.
I’m sure a few words of admonition were included in Kate’s gentle words of reassurance to her daughter, who was back at it with her brother and cousins in no time at all.
We’re so glad we got the opportunity to see the adorable little royals during Trooping the Colour and hope that the mishap with Charlotte won’t deter the family from including them in future balcony appearances.
