For many American Royal Family fans, the recent visit of President Trump and First Lady Melania to the UK has been sort of a bust.
What was meant to be a cheerful and respectable visit took a turn when the US President was caught making some less-than-respectable remarks about the former American turned royal, Meghan Markle.
Just ahead of the President’s arrival, The Sun published an interview Friday in which Trump was asked about former American turned royal, Meghan Markle. During the interview, the reporter Brough up Megan Marle, “Meghan, who is now the Duchess of Sussex, we have given her a different name, she can’t make it because she is on maternity leave. Are you sorry not to see her because she wasn’t so nice about you during the campaign? I don’t know if you saw that.”
President Trump’s response quickly responded, saying President Trump, who admitted that he had no clue Megan Markle had ever publicly spoken about him, responded, “I don’t know that. No. I didn’t know that.” He continued, “No, I hope she’s okay. I did not know that, no.”
The reported pressed the President further, saying “She said she’d move to Canada if you got elected. Turns out she moved to Britain.” Trump simply replied, “That’ll be good. There are a lot of people moving here so what can I say?” But then, just as he was almost finished making his remark, he said, “No I didn’t know that she was nasty.”
Since that moment, the media has gone into a frenzy over the President’s words. Several headlines began to cover the moment as a major defining factor in the visit. While fans seemed to be perfectly fine weighing in on the matter, there was one person who had decided enough was enough.
During the D Day commemorations at the Portsmouth Naval Memorial on Southsea Common, Queen Elizabeth and President Trump met to honor those who fought in the D Day landing's 75 years ago. Fans were stunned to see the 93 year Queen in vibrant color and such a fun hat! And immediately conversations shifted from being about the drama between the President and Meghan Markle to Her Majesty’s rich ensemble.
It was clear that the Queen had had enough of the drama and gossip, so she wanted to re-gain the attention and redirect it towards the rightful cause: D Day. And I have to say, I commend Her Majesty for doing her part to silence the gossip.
