Hollywood actor and one-time ‘Dancing With The Stars’ favorite David Arquette was talking to reporters to promote his upcoming film when an unwanted guest decided to take some of the attention from the star.
The ‘cringy’ scene unfolded on Friday when the 46-year-old Arquette attended the Hollywood premiere of his new film ‘350 Days.’ He was happily chatting with reporters when pro-wrestler R.J. City horned his way into the spotlight. The fighter goaded the actor with taunting remarks, ostensibly referring to their upcoming wrestling match, scheduled for July 15th.
Whether or not the incident was merely a publicity stunt helping to promote the face-off, it sure seemed to get ‘real’ really fast.
A video from TMZ clearly shows how the two went from exchanging words to exchanging punches, with the actor shoving the wrestler away from him when he tried to wrap his arm around the actor’s neck.
Even the film’s director, Fulvio Cecere, tried to break up the fracas peacefully, suggesting the wrestler leave the stage. But his advice went unheeded.
But R.J. wasn’t letting it go just yet. He came back for more and ended up getting slapped and tossed aside for his efforts. Eventually, the fight was broken up and security led the instigator away.
Arquette seemed very upset by the whole encounter and took a few moments to regain his composure after the aggressive attack.
Arquette boasted that he has been training extremely hard ahead of his pro-wrestling contest, and it remains to be seen if he can outsmart his rival on the mat.
