Prayers are desperately needed for Hawaii and all residents as the destructive Hurricane Lane is moving closer and closer to the islands.
Hurricane Lane is a Category 5 hurricane. As the hurricane makes its way closer to the islands of Hawaii, residents are stocking up survival necessities.
Currently, the storm is causing intense surf on the beaches, flash floods, and destructive mudslides. Within the week, the storm may directly hit the islands causing major annihilation to homes, properties, and lives.
On Tuesday, August 21st, the National Weather Service announced that Hurricane Lane had become a Category 5 with winds as high as 157 mph. As of the 22nd, the storm was roughly 500 miles southeast of Honolulu.
The governor of Hawaii, David Ige, issued an emergency proclamation and schools have been shut down in response to the storm’s severity.
While residents and loved ones that are stateside are terrified beyond measure, one meteorologist believes that there is a chance that the storm may not directly hit the islands. Gavin Shigesato is giving millions hope in his assessment of Hurricane Lane’s path. He shared that it’s path is “uncertain” and quoted weather services to encourage others that there is no way to “confidently determine” the path of Hurricane Lane.
Gavin’s assessment of the storm is giving all hope. While the storm may have an effect on the islands of Hawaii, it is not guaranteed to take a direct hit. Flash floods and mudslides are still happening but there is still a chance the eye of the storm will bypass the islands.
Please please please keep Hawaii and its residents in your prayers. There is power in prayer and the storm’s path can absolutely be influenced by your prayers. Share this story with everyone you know so that more can pray specifically for the storm’s path to change.
