It's Official! Royal Baby News We’ve All Been Waiting For And Fans Are Thrilled Beyond Belief

June 20, 2018

Ever since the April 23rd birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s third child, the world has been waiting with bated breath for news of the next big occasion at which we KNOW the little Prince will be in attendance.

Now, Kensington Palace has finally given us what we’ve been waiting for and we are beside ourselves with excitement! We now know the date of Prince Louis’s christening, and it’s a lot sooner than we thought! On their official Twitter page, the Palace released this official announcement:

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce that the christening of Prince Louis will take place on Monday 9th July at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, London.

“Prince Louis will be christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.”

The date chosen for little Louis’ big day fits right in with the tradition the Palace has set in the past, having a royal baby’s christening somewhere between two and three months of age.

When Prince George was born on July 22nd, 2013, the first-time parents waited a full three months before taking their son to The Chapel Royal at St. James Palace to be baptized on October 23rd.

Two years later, upon Princess’ Charlotte’s arrival on May 2nd, the newly-confident Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a bold move and scheduled her baptism for July 5th, when she was just two months old.

On that lovely Wednesday afternoon, the family of four traveled to St. Mary Magdalene’s Church on the Queen’s Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, to have their daughter dedicated to God.

Now, for their third child, the Duke and Duchess have chosen a date smack-dab in the middle! July 9th will make Prince Louis exactly 47 days old, or two-and-a-half-months old when he is dedicated to God in the traditional and meaningful religious ceremony.

With all the exciting goings-on within the Royal family this year, it’s a wonder William and Kate have found time at all to schedule the important event. We’re just glad that they finally got around to it, and we can hardly wait to catch another glimpse of the darling little Prince!
