Jenny McCarthy is laying it all out there- and it ain’t pretty.
The adored actress and Hollywood influencer, Jenny McCarthy, has come forward with some pretty major statements about one of the biggest names in Hollywood: Barbara Walters.
In a recent excerpt published by Vulture, reporter Ramin Setoodeh’s upcoming book, Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of “The View,” Jenny McCarthy, 46, revealed some unfortunate truths of her experience on the beloved day-time talk show. As a short-term panelist on The View and guests, Jenny had quite a few experiences with the show’s star, Barbara Walters.
The reveal comes after Jenny was given the opportunity to replace two of the show’s stars, Joy Behar and Elizabeth Hasselbeck- two very well-known panelist. Jenny’s part was to bring pop-culture knowledge, and given her experience in Hollywood, she would be the perfect hit.
Hoping to enter the show and exceed expectations, she quickly learned that the show’s panelist came with their own challenges. In the excerpt, Jenny compares the show’s founder, Barbara, to the screaming and psychotic character from the film, Mommie Dearest. Jenny revealed, “I’ve never seen a woman yell like that before until I worked with Barbara Walters.”
Jenny revealed that Barbara’s angst was aimed solely at her. She added, “Imagine a woman like Barbara Walters,” McCarthy says. “It’s her last year and she doesn’t want to leave. Think about that. And I’m the new [exploitive] there.” The rivalry only intensified by the unwillingness by The View crew who ignored the mistreatment Jenny felt she was getting from Barbara and other members of the cast and crew.
She shared, “Every day I went home and I was miserable. It really was the most miserable I’ve been on a job in my 25 years of show business. I kicked myself for not taking a CBS job, of course.” She added, “When I’d hear the shuffle of her feet, I knew that Barbara was after me. It would get faster. Oh my God — she’s coming! Based on the speed of the shuffle, I would hide or get on the phone.”
Unfortunately, the drama between the two never really cleared up. But still, Jenny chose to keep the drama between herself and the legend totally private between close friends. Now, anyone and everyone can read the dirt Jenny dished on Barbara. Hopefully, the two women can come together and figure out their differences. It’s tragic to see two influential women have such disdain to each other.
