If one thing is certain, it’s that the Duggar family knows how to expand a family! Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar quickly became a household name when they scored their own family reality show with their 19 children.
Since the debut of their television series, families all across the globe have come to know and love their children, watching many of them grow up and start families of their own. On January 9, news broke that the Duggar clan was expanding yet again!
Just to clear the air, no, it’s not Jim Bob and Michelle birthing the next Duggar babe, at least not this time! Jessa Duggar Seewald and her husband, Ben, announced to PEOPLE that they were expecting their third child.
Together, Jessa (26) and Ben (23) share two little boys: Spurgeon Elliot (3) and Henry Wilberforce (23 months). Now, they’re anxiously awaiting their third little bundle of joy to join the family.
Jessa told PEOPLE: “We are overjoyed that God has blessed us with a baby, due late this Spring! From the day we found out we were expecting, we both guessed boy, and if our predictions are right, then we already have a ton of clothing and accessories ready to pass down!”
She then went on to talk about the chance of having a little girl. “At the same time, we would absolutely love it if we found out we were having a girl - though we’ve joked that we’d be starting from square one and might have to learn a few things.”
Since Jessa is one of the eldest Duggar girls, I have a feeling that if she does have a girl of her own, she’s already got more practice than most women her age with rearing multiple children, both girls and boys.
Ben weighed in on the interview as well, detailing how the big brothers feel about the exciting addition. “Henry doesn’t have a clue what’s coming, but Spurgeon understands and he talks about the baby quite a bit. Seeing our boys met their new sibling for the first time is something we are really looking forward to!”
When asked about parenting an additional child, Ben gave the perfect dad-like answer: “We realized that, in going from two to three kids, we’re about to switch from man-to-man to zone coverage, so we’ve definitely been taking advice from friends who are already in this stage! We love being parents and are really looking forward to this new arrival!”
We are looking forward to the new little one’s arrival, too! What’s your guess - boy or girl?
