Jim Nabors, one of America’s most well-known superstars, has died at the age of 87. Jim will be remembered for his humorous acting, his kind spirit, and of course his booming voice.

An Alabama native, Nabors was first known for his role as Gomer Pyle on “The Andy Griffith Show.” The superstar also had several successful Hollywood moments as an actor and recording artists. His rich baritone voice carried out tunes during the 1960’s as he recorded more than two dozen records.

Nabor’s first appearance on “The Andy Griffith” show was meant to be his only appearance, but America fell in love with his character, Gomer Pyle, and he was written into 23 more episodes. In fact, NBC even did a spin-off sitcom to his character called, “Gomer Pyle, USMC,” which aired for 5 years.

From there, Nabors’ dreams of being an entertainer took off; he hosted T.V. shows, he hosted award shows and released album after album. With his name filled the media, Nabors’ stardom was just getting started

For the second time in his early life, Jim was starring in a second show- something that most actors only ever dream of doing. “The Jim Nabors’ Hour” was a series dedicated to him singing and acting alongside actors from “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Gomer Pyle.”

From there, he acted, sang, and made several celebrity guest appearances in the Hollywood world. His health remained steady, although he did suffer from asthma for most of his life. In 1994, He underwent a liver transplant. The years following, his health steadily decreased.

Jim passed away peacefully in his sleep on November 30, 2018, in his Hawaii home. We wish his family and friends much peace of mind.
