Oh my gosh! Did this seriously just happen?!
Have you ever followed a famous couples journey from the beginning? If you have, you know the feeling of support you have for them is unmatched; sure, you’ll likely never meet, but you know just about everything there is to know about them. You’re loyal to protect them against rumors, you’re encouraging of their roles and big moments, and you celebrate them in their biggest moments.
On the flip side of that, you might feel completely overlooked and betrayed when they do something totally rogue like get married in Las Vegas!
Joe Jonas and Sofie Turner fans are feeling the weight of shocking betrayal very much today for that exact reason; on May 1st, 2019, the boy-band superstar and internally adored actress tied the knot in Las Vegas after the Billboard Music Awards.
Fans were stunned when they woke up to the news that Joe and Sofie had officially said “I do” at a wedding chapel in Vegas. The couple, who have been engaged in October 2017, was believed to be planning a beautiful wedding ceremony for June 2019. But apparently, their emotions got the best of them and they decided to pull a real Las Vegas-move and get married in a chapel! Their wedding was even officiated by an Elvis impersonator!
The ceremony, which was documented on the fellow musician, Diplo’s, Instagram live feed, was officiated at Chapel L’Amour inside A Little White Wedding Chapel. Judging by the live feed, several other stars joined in the ceremony.
The Elvis impersonator who was officiating the ceremony had the couple to hold hands and look into each other’s eyes, before having them recite their vows together. Without any hesitation, they repeated the classic vows. They said, “I promise you, I will never leave you. I will love and trust you, all the days of my life. In sickness and in health… forever and ever.”
After the vows came to the ring, which earned loud applause. The couple officially became husband and wife exchanged ring pops as wedding bands! “Fine folks, family… in the power vested in me, it is my pleasure to pronounce you two husband and wife. You may kiss that bride!” the Elvis impersonator cheered.
While this was shocking to fans- and likely even to those closest to the bride and groom- Sofie did say that she wanted to have a low-key wedding. The bride shared, “We’re trying to keep it [the wedding] as low-key as possible so it’s more of an intimate thing.”
While it was small, it wasn’t entirely intimate! We are just happy that they are happy! While fans are left wondering if their real wedding ceremony will still continue, we’re just happy for the couple! Congratulations, Joe and Sofie!
