Though the Hollywood couple has been separated for over two years, the battle over their six children rages on. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are both fighting to have control over their children to raise them in the way they see fit, and apparently, the two have very different ideas of what that might be.
An unnamed source tells Us Weekly, “The custody battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is far from over. The actor is ‘very angry’ with his estranged wife for being ‘controlling of him through their children,’ a source reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly, and not he will ‘do anything to see his kids and have them in his life’.”
As we reported last week, the divorce judge seems to agree with Mr. Pitt and has recently ordered significant changes to the family’s visitation/custody plan.
Us broke the story in June when they obtained copies of court documents in which the judge wrote that he believed Pitt “should be allowed to spend time with his kids.
The docs state “it is critical each of [the Jolie-Pitt children] have a healthy and strong relationship with their father and mother,” and that not having a relationship with their father is “harmful” to Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 9.
In the past, Pitt held back when he was upset about Jolie’s machinations, but he recently decided that wasn’t working. He was finding himself with less and less access to his kids and saw the potential damage it might cause.
Adding a clear admonition to the mother of six, the judge went on to make his true sentiments known. According to Us’ same source, “The papers also contain a shocking sentiment: If Jolie doesn’t allow the children to build relationships with Pitt, she could lose full custody of them.
"Brad has taken the high road through all of this; he could have gone to court much sooner to ask the judge to intervene. He was done being Mr. Nice Guy and rolled the dice.”
After stepping in and standing up for his rights as a father and of his kids' right to have both parents playing prominent roles their lives, Brad Pitt is now changing his approach.
“The 54-year-old ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ actor already appears to be spending more time with his six children than in the past.” Us Weekly confirmed that “he spent Father’s Day with his brood in London on Sunday, June 16, where Jolie is currently filming Maleficent 2.”
As this unhappy story unfolds over the next weeks and months, we pray that the feuding couple can find a way to keep the eye on the prize: well-adjusted and happy children, the chances of which can be vastly improved by keeping their kids’ best interests uppermost in their minds.
