The drama continues for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt as things get 'real' between the battling exes. Their tumultuous divorce has stalled due to disagreement over child custody issues, with Angelina defying judge's orders on permitting Brad to see their six children.
Now, Jolie has been ordered back to the U.S. from England, where she has been vacationing with her brood. The couple is due back in court later this week where the judge will undoubtedly be VERY clear on what is expected from the dueling parents where the kids are concerned.
According to court docs, obtained by TMZ “Angelina was ordered to return with the kids Saturday. According to the judge's order, Brad Pitt has a right to custody of the kids for no less than 4 hours every other day on school days and 12 hours every other day on non-school days.
“Brad and Angelina are due back in an L.A. court this week to hammer out more custody issues. The judge is waiting for a custody evaluation by at least one psychiatrist. In the meantime, the judge indicated he will deal with temporary custody issues while he waits for the report.
Earlier in the week, Brad had expressed real concern that Angelina plans to move the kids overseas, permanently, and he will lose contact with Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 12, Knox, 9, and Vivienne, 9.
The judge will take up not only that issue but other temporary custody terms when the couple appears back in court later this week.
Earlier we reported that Jolie was making it difficult for the kids to speak with their dad over the phone, at which time Brad declared that he was done being ‘Mr. Nice Guy.’
In the past, Pitt held back when he was upset about Jolie’s machinations, but he recently decided that wasn’t working. He was finding himself with less and less access to his kids and saw the potential damage it might cause.
Adding a clear admonition to the mother of six, the judge went on to make his true sentiments known. According to Us “The papers also contain a shocking sentiment: If Jolie doesn’t allow the children to build relationships with Pitt, she could lose full custody of them.
"Brad has taken the high road through all of this; he could have gone to court much sooner to ask the judge to intervene. He was done being Mr. Nice Guy and rolled the dice.”
After stepping in and standing up for his rights as a father and of his kids' right to have both parents playing prominent roles their lives, Brad Pitt is now changing his approach.
As this unhappy story unfolds over the next weeks and months, we pray that the feuding couple can find a way to keep the eye on the prize: well-adjusted and happy children, the chances of which can be vastly improved by keeping their kids’ best interests uppermost in their minds.
