On June 19th the world rejoiced in seeing hundreds of esteemed faces at the famous Royal Ascot! The Royal Ascot is a five-day racing event that has been happening since 1711 and is believed to be Queen Elizabeth’s most favorite event of every year.
Royal favorites such as Princess Beatrice, the newly crowned Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and of course, Her Majesty were in attendance for the starting day. And while fans were thrilled to see the beloved royals, they couldn’t help but noticed that two favorites were missing from the royal crowd.
The adored Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were missing from the iconic event and their absence has everyone talking. The royal couple has taken some time away from the spotlight since welcoming their little Louis on April 23rd, 2018.
Since becoming a family of five, the couple has missing from several royal engagements. Although after arriving at the Royal Wedding and Trooping the Colour, their presence began to give their fans hope that they’d soon return back into the spotlight.
During the Royal Ascot, many had expected that the Duchess would make an appearance alongside the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Rather than surprising everyone, here’s what they were doing instead.
Prince William was visiting Liverpool for the International Business Festival. As the event’s patron for 2018, William was busy congratulating innovated delegates for bringing together businesspeople “ to build networks and to share knowledge.”
Kate was missing for one very obvious reason: little Louis. Even though Kate’s surprised us a couple of times with appearances while on maternity leave, this was one event that that she likely wouldn’t have gone to even if Louis was a little older for the simple reason that William was working elsewhere.
The Duchess is set to return to her official duties in Fall 2018, but until then, any appearances made by the Duchess will be a total surprise! Thankfully though, we love surprises, especially when they have to do with our favorite Royals!
