On Thanksgiving Day in 2018, no one in the Berreth family could have ever predicted that it would be the last time they would see their beloved Kelsey.
The 29-year-old mother was last seen at a local grocery store shopping with her daughter, one-year-old, Kaylee. From the moment she disappeared, local authorities have been aggressively hunting down any sign that could lead them to Kelsey and that could lead them to the people who were responsible for her disappearance.
On December 21, Berreth’s fiance, Patrick Frazee was arrested and taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder. From what authorities have gathered, they are not being led to believe that they will find Berreth alive.
Now, another turn of events has washed all over news outlets, shining even more light into this already heartbreaking situation. Krystal Jean Kenney, a 32-year-old nurse from a small town in Idaho, has turned herself into the police in connection with Berreth’s disappearance.
She told police that she is planning to testify against Frazee, despite the fact that the two were allegedly having an affair during the time Berreth went missing. She released a statement to the authorities:
“I learned that Patrick Frazee had committed a homicide on approximately November 22 in Teller County. I knew that law enforcement would be investigating that crime,” she started.
“I moved the victim’s cellphone with the intent to impair the phone’s availability in the investigation,” she said. She then stated that “she had no right or authority to dispose or move Berreth’s phone.”
Once sentencing for Frazee has been completed, law enforcement will move on to the ruling of Kenney’s involvement. While this is certainly pouring salt into the wound from the family’s perspective, they have made it a point to let the law enforcement officers know their utmost gratitude and appreciation for the lengths they’ve gone to for their daughter.
