Kensington Palace Urges Prince Harry Towards Awkward Decision Days Before His Wedding, And His Bride-To-Be Has A Lot To Say It

May 09, 2018

The Royal Wedding countdown has officially made it to the single digits and the world is absolutely thrilled! While most seem excited, there might be one individual, in particular, that is getting cold feet: Meghan’s dad.

Father of the soon-to-be- royal bride, Thomas Markle, has some big moments coming up on May 19th. Apart from giving his daughter away, he’ll be jet-setting across oceans to attend his daughter’s wedding at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. And as if that monumental moment isn’t enough, he’ll also be meeting his future son-in-law… for the very first time.

It’s true! The royal groom and father-of-the-bride have never met. Meghan’s relationship with her father and family has been less than ideal. Since the engagement to Prince Harry, the media has nearly devoured the personal family turmoil, creating a much larger problem.

Many outlets believed that Thomas wouldn’t be invited to the wedding at all. Rumors swirled that Meghan’s mother, Doria, would walk her down the aisle rather than her father. In fact, until the first week of May, many outlets reported that Meghan wouldn’t invite her father to the wedding.

Thankfully, Kensington Palace is stepping to set the record straight. What's emerged has been both shocking and exciting.

In a statement from the Royal Family’s advisors, it was shared that “are very much looking forward to welcoming Ms. Markle's parents to Windsor for the wedding. Mr. Thomas Markle and Ms. Doria Ragland will be arriving in the UK in the week of the wedding.”

Prince Harry and Thomas will meet a couple of days before the wedding which will allow them time to get to know each other. Prince Harry and Meghan have yet spent any time together, and conversations have only been over the phone. The week before the wedding will be the first real official meeting.

While meeting his future-father-in-law for the first time just days before his wedding might be awkward, it’s surely best for them to meet before the big day. Aside from Kensington Palace’s suggestion, Meghan mentioned in her engagement interview that they’ve only chatted on the phone but hopes that they’ll meet soon!
