Lio is a gorgeous little pure-white Schnauzer/Poodle mix who lives in London with his adoring momma, Megan. Megan and Lio have been the best of friends ever since the two met for the very first time. Megan spoils Lio the best she can and, together, the two love to go on any and every adventure they can. Megan has loved Lio since she first met him. Her love for him was so strong that she traveled quite a long distance just to bring him home.
Megan was on a volunteer mission in Mexico, near Playa Del Carmen, when she first met Lio. She had originally gone to Mexico to work with children, but while she was there, she made the decision to volunteer at a local animal shelter. On the evening she met Lio, she was working with the SOS El Arca shelter to raise money.
A Good Samaritan brought Lio into the shelter after witnessing this sweet and loving dog being thrown from a car window. Luckily for Lio, the monsters who left him for dead had at least pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the car before abandoning him. From the first moment that Megan laid eyes on Lio, she was head-over-heels in love with the sweet and loving pup.
Megan knew there was no way she could leave him behind when she returned to England, and so she began the long - and expensive - process of getting Lio home! Megan used the last of her money to arrange for a flight for Lio, so she would have to sleep on a friend’s couch for an entire month! She knew that, in the end, it would be worth it all to have her canine pal with her.
Their trip home was a very long and difficult process. First, the two travelers had to catch a twelve-hour flight to Germany! From there, they took a six-hour train ride to Paris where they got on another train to Calais for two more hours! The final leg of their journey involved an hour-and-a-half ferry ride to their home in London.
Lio quickly settled into his new home in London, and he doesn’t seem to miss Mexico at all anymore. Now, he spends his days going on long adventures through the woods and hunting squirrels in the trees that line the path. Although the road home was long and scary, everything turned out the way it was meant to.
