Lou Ferrigno is getting serious about vaccinations.
The former Incredible Hulk actor recently received a pneumonia vaccine. While the pneumonia vaccine is rather common, Lou had a very unfortunate response to the vaccination. However, it was due to the vaccine, but the way in which it was administered to him.
For Lou, his injury happened when the needle hit a fluid-filled sac rather than his muscle. Upon receiving the vaccine, it appeared that everything was okay. But only hours later, he was experiencing major pains in his arm.
Lou, 67, took to Twitter where he shared this picture with his followers and the caption that read: “I’ll be ok but it's important that you keep an eye on who's giving the shot and make sure they not only swab the spot correctly but that you watch the needle come out of the package.”
After experience debilitation in his arm and trouble lifting his arm, he returned to the hospital. It was clear that Lou had SIRVA- or shoulder injuries related to vaccine administration.
The Daily Mail reports that while it’s not clear exactly what flu shot Ferrigno received, there are two types of FDA-approved pneumonia vaccines that health officials recommend for people over 65: PCV13 and PPSV23.
Please keep Lou in your prayers and that his pain stops.
