Man Takes Old Antique Blanket to an Auction - And is Overwhelmed With Emotion When He Learns the Truth

Antiques are amazing, aren't they?

Not only do they look timeless, but they hold so much history, memories, and sometimes worth! Often the most ordinary items that tend to get overlooked can be the most valuable.

It's no wonder why so many people are huge fans of Antiques Roadshow. On this series, appraisers help identify precious items and divulge this history and value behind them. More often than not, owners are absolutely astonished at the historical and monetary value their items hold.

In one particular episode, a gentleman brings in an old, antique blanket. Upon first look, it doesn't seem too interesting. It just looks like an average antique striped blanket.

Within one look, the appraiser's eyes lit up, for he knew just how rare and special this blanket truly was.

The owner of the blanket really didn't know much about it, aside from the fact that 19th-centruy Wild West legend Kit Carson had gifted it to his grandmother's foster father.

That information alone made him sure that it had to be worth something. Little did he know just how much it was truly worth!

The appraiser, Donald Ellis, said that it was a Navajo First Phase Chief's blanket that was made between 1840 and 1860. Ellis called it "Navajo weaving in its purest form" and it was in unbelievable condition.

When Ellis told the man just how much it was worth now, the man's eyes filled with tears.

If this doesn't make you want to hold on to your antiques, I don't know what will!
